Heritage Centre Adopts IPAC Program


The Centre is located on the doorstep of RCMP Academy, “Depot” Division, where Mounties have trained since 1885 and now looks to expand the program to include new recruits at the training academy.


Debbie Le Dressay, Coordinator, Educational Programming for the RCMP Heritage Centre is proud to formally announce they have their map up and running and are beginning the learning process with community, members and cadets. Le Dressay commented that “It is an exciting project and we are developing some materials for the cadets and members as well as some information to put up in the room.” The Centre, which is located at 5907 Dewdney Avenue in Regina, Saskatchewan, is dedicated to sharing the story of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Canada’s national police force. Known informally as the “Mounties”, the Force is recognized the world over for its iconic dress uniform featuring the red serge tunic, Stetson hat, and high brown boots.

Recognizing the RCMP played a significant role in the colonization process and residential schools, the police force know seeks opportunities to promote Indigenous Knowledge sharing within its community including the new recruits coming through the Depot program. Guests of the RCMP Heritage Centre can experience both the historical and modern day stories of the RCMP through a variety of traditional and state-of-the-art exhibits, a virtual and augmented reality experiences, and live events. The Centre is located on the doorstep of RCMP Academy, “Depot” Division, where Mounties have trained since 1885.

As part of the process of honouring the past, the Heritage Centre provides a reflective experience involving Indigenous history, languages and culture. .
