RCGS Hosts Ambassador Training

Upon completion of the program participants are formally recognized as Ambassadors for the Royal Canadian Geographical Society’s IPAC program.

Great experience and fantastic participation from a number of RCGS College of Fellows and special friends who came together to support the IPAC Ambassador program in Ottawa on April 23, 2022. Hosted by Co-Leads Charlene Bearhead and Bill Nadeau, participants not only got a chance to visit the home of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society at 50 Sussex Drive in Ottawa, but also spend the day learning how to champion the Initiatives Mission.

The objectives for the afternoon were simple: to provide both Fellows and friends of The Society with the resources and supports needed to facilitate the powerful learning opportunities this interactive floor map and its accompanying educational resources offer. During this inspiring orientation experience, participants engaged in an exploration of the map and its incredible learning resources. Emerging from the program as Ambassadors, they are ideally positioned as leaders to help champion our efforts to communicate the powerful learning opportunities of IPAC to potential community stakeholders and local sponsors.

The IPAC Ambassador Orientation Program provided participants with tangible opportunities to do more than just honour the TRC’s Calls to Action, but to actually lead change by facilitating Indigenous focused learning through interactive and dynamic programs.

A special thank you to Richard Eaton, Christopher Eaton, Carolyn Whitby, Elizabeth Nadeau, ‭Deb le Dressay from the RCMP Heritage Centre, Victoria Angel, Peter Croal and Doreen Riedel.
